How does our changing now affect them any different then if we changed  
in 6 months? They'd still need to either port or maintain the old code  
themselves. The only difference being we'll bring more people on board  
when we say this is our technology, we think it's good enough to  
release, please use it.

How pissed will those people be when we pull the rug out from under  
them?

When we release something we have to be prepared to live with it for  
quite a while. Constantly changing APIs will not grow our user base.
