Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Stable) still has that "old" version.  Yes,
12.04 LTS was released last month.  Those people that care about long
term stability (there's lots of us, that's WHY Ubuntu make LTS
versions) might upgrade to 12.04 sometime in the next year or so.

Certainly changing the requirement to gettext 0.18 means I wont be able
to do any development on EFL and E.  I'm in no hurry to update to
Ubuntu LTS 12.04.  That includes my personal desktop system, and
several servers I look after for various people.  Yes, I'm writing EFL
based software for those servers that use ecore.  EFL can be used in
headless server software.  B-)

I suspect a similar story applies to Debian users at least.  Long term
stability is important for a lot of people.  You exclude those people
when you reuire the use of latest and greatest libraries.
