Lets put the rest of this thread aside for now. I just got this commit from git bisect when trying to find out what broke make doc in elm. It worked fine in alpha1 but is not working right now. It simply hangs in the widget preview generation. Which means the elm shot engine hangs as we use that one to generate the screenshots for the documentation. I reverted this one locally (and fixed up some small conflict with another patch touching this code) and the generation works again.
