Indeed and nobody said anything differently. Its a balance as always. I 
know about two developers we have in Australia right now while we have 
5+ in France alone adding more from UK, Germany, etc.

We tried it once in the US and it ended up being almost only attended by 
people working for companies on it. We would like to have this event 
accessible for the community though as that it what mainly drives it. My 
feeling would be that it would turn out the same for EDD in Australia 
(not even sure I could go there and trust me I would _love_ to be there 
again).

It really all boils down to a) easy and cheap access for developers and 
b) good local support with offered venue.
