The history setting is not something that is set by Eterm. It is set inside the shell you are using, ie: bash, csh, tcsh. More then likely your running bash as its standard pretty much on Linux. To change the history size you need to edit either your ~/.bashrc or possibley your ~/.profile or even /etc/profile. In any of those cases you are looking for the variable HSTSIZE, it should look like:
HSTSIZE=50
You can change that and depending upon which file you find it in, you will either need to close the terminal or completely log out and log back in for the changes to take effect.
