I have a minor yet annoying Eterm problem:
I'd like to be able to start several Eterms from my .Xclients, on
different desktops, with transparency. I'm using enlightenment-0.16.7.2
and Eterm-0.9.3. Transparency fails unless I do Esetroot first.
However, this only works for the first desktop. Once enlightenment has
started, new Eterms have transparency working fine, for whichever
desktop.

That's due to bugs in Eterm and/or E16. It is fixed in E16.8 (CVS).

This is good and bad news. Good that it's fixed, but bad since I can't for the life of me get autogen.sh to run for either e16 or eterm in CVS (I'm running FC3). I guess I can wait :) ... I got EFL + e17 to build just fine from CVS... looks gorgeous!

I'm using FC3 too and don't see any e16 autogen.sh problems. What happens?

If I first mkdir "e16/e/m4", autogen.sh will actually run (in e16/e),
but the configure fails since Makefile.in is absent.

I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish to pass any to it, please specify them on the ./autogen.sh command line.
Generating configuration files for Enlightenment, please wait....

It looks like you don't have gettext-devel.
