Just browsing the User Guide there now (very concise, I must say). I hadn't seen that page until Mike Russo's reply to the "Dependencies" email on this list linked to it a couple hours ago. I figure I'm going to set up a test machine and try different versions of E before I commit to a specific one on my main machine. Whatever version comes on my Slackware disc, the latest stable release, the latest CVS of E17 (is there a specific snapshot that would be best?), etc.

That page will certainly be helpful for E17, and I just found a link to eDox that will hopefully be as helpful or more so for E16, but my first two questions still remain. Those were the ones about WM-specific applications (K3B, for example) and about remote access to the console display.
