Well, this is the procedure you need to follow:
1. edje_decc taskbar.edj
2. cd taskbar
3. <modify the image files, keeping the dimensions same (hopefully)>
4. ./build.sh
5. cp taskbar.edj ~/.e/e/themes
6. Theme config dialog -> Advanced -> assign taskbar.edj to module/taskbar
7. Sip coffee and marvel at the changed theme (?)
