That's the way they made it.  If I remember, pkg-config includes it's
own version of glib to help bootstrap this.  Or just install both at
the same time.

Trunk is where the main development happens.  Tags are pointers to
particular revisions, usually ones that have been released.  Branches
are where people make a copy, but diverge for some reason or another.
Often these branches are merged back into trunk, or forgotten about.
BROKEN and OLD are where forgotten sub projects go to die.
