Trunk is where the main development happens. Tags are pointers to particular revisions, usually ones that have been released. Branches are where people make a copy, but diverge for some reason or another. Often these branches are merged back into trunk, or forgotten about. BROKEN and OLD are where forgotten sub projects go to die.
