OK, thanks. I will need to switch these on next time I rebuild them.
There's something definitely amiss in the last 3 weeks or so. I am now
getting crashes regularly (at least once a day) typically as I hover over the
shelf icons and they start animating, just before I click on them (no
compositing). That's what made me look at the ~/.enlightenment_errors file
where I spotted the above problem.
All windows then become inaccessible, although content in them is refreshed
(e.g. urxvt shows progress during a download).
It may be KDE apps though, especially that bl**dy KDEPIM and its database.
