mmmmmnnnn Probably, in fact that would be my guess also...

What's confusing me is now that I can specify the window NAME with --name
in command lines in my ~/.xinitrc again. Suddenly those same command lines
fail to sett unique values when used in a user script that has been defined in
E17 as a personal launcher and then added to the startup applications.

I mean, IF they have in fact fixed Konsole so that it's again
possible to correctly set unique NAME values via --name in the .xinitrc
file, why would the same exact command line(s) executed as an E17 startup
application suddenly stop doing so? 

I guess I should just be glad that at least one of the two methods work.
