hi,

in the arousal of using Enlightenment and my IBar questions, I forgot to
introduce myself here on this list...

my name is Meine and I live in the south of the Netherlands. I daily use
computers since about 1988, internet since 1990 or so. developed an early
dislike of ms-dos and used Mac computers up til system 8.5. through my work I
force-learned to work with windows (downside) but got a PC partly paid by my
boss (upside ;-)

in 2009 I bought an Acer Aspire One with Linpus (with the big tiles) and
started to discover and use Linux more and more. after the usual tries of brown
and green distro's I stayed with Fedora since version 10. by destructing the
main computer in the house and with the help of the fedoraforum.org and the net
I was able to develop practical skills with Linux and CLI.

since I have hardly any coding experience -- apart from HyperCard back in 1990
-- and my main interest is in the human-machine interface, IMHO desktop
environments are key element for computer users. deb/rpm is of less importance
for most end user's points of view.

when I wrote an article for OpenSource.com
[http://opensource.com/business/14/2/choosing-desktop-environment-linux] I
discovered and tried Enlightenment. up till then I used LXDE because I have no
need for the frills. after some weeks using E next to LXDE I made the switch to
Enlightenment and I really like it! the speed of E is superb, even compared to
LXDE, it looks great and is very tweakable.

thanks for reading!
