I'm late to the thread, but I'll chime in since I have this exact laptop. Back ~1.5yr ago distro kernel support for Skylake chips was very poor. But things are much better now. So if you're using Bodhi just for the hardware support, you probably have more options. I run Debian stretch. IIRC install + boot out of the box went fine with the non-free firwmware installation media. I use the updated kernel from backports, it has better thunderbolt 3 dock support.
