the background is part of the terminal so ... the background will use opengl to
render if you use opengl to render the whole content of terminology. you can
configure the default acceleration method with elementary_config (tool) or vide
environment variables like ELM_ACCEL=gl

those are separate applications rendering to their own windows. you could use a
glveiw in terminology and write such things ... but it'd have to be part of
terminology. so you'd have to patch it.

i wouldn't think this is that great an idea.it would mean the backgrounds are
very limited (only to the code you port and patch in). being so limited
probably doesn't make the work worth it. if you could source such things from
data files... that would be far better. :)
