Been a while since I've used e23, but try looking in the screen setup
control panel.  You might be able to turn off lid events there.

 Myself, I changed /etc/systemd/logind.conf and added the following lines:

HandleLidSwitch=ignore
HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=ignore

 From memory, that worked fine for me with e25/26.
