Jose Luis,

The C2s do not support sending fan failure SNMP traps. However, with release
5.2 you can configure a subset of C2 models to send a trap if an
administrator-configured thermal threshold is exceeded. This could be an
indication of a fan failure or high-temperature in the wiring close that could
potentially affect the availability of the network.

Search for thermal threshold in the X.2 config guide...it is settable via the
set system temperature command. The list of supported C2 platforms are
available in the RNs (basically all the 48 port C2s and the C2K122-24 have a
temperature sensor and support this new feature).

Good luck,

Subject: [enterasys] C2 fan status MIB OID and traps

Hello,

I am trying to locate the MIB node which gives access to the Fan status in a C2
switch. Browsing through the official Enterasys MIB (dated November 2008) I
found this node:

ctChasFanModuleTable OBJECT-TYPE
 DESCRIPTION
"A list of fan module entries."
  ::= { ctFanModule 1 }

-- 1.3.6.1.4.1.52.4.3.1.3.1

[From the CTRON-CHASSIS-MIB file]

But everytime I issue a get over this OID I get an empty result. We're running
the 5.1.5.4 firmware version. Anyone can help me on this?

Besides this question... does anybody know if a C2 should issue a trap when the
fan is not working properly? We're only being informed through the syslog
events, not from the trap system...

Thanks in advance,

Jose Luis Rojano
