The only thing you need is the SMA pigtail (MP372) or R-SMA pigtail (MP422) to N-connector for lightning protector. Here you can connect any wifi antenna for 2.4 or 5 GHz. Please be sure that you are using the connector at the MP you want to use by 2.4 or 5 GHz ! Enable the function for external antenna with choosing any antenna with RASM !
The difference between SMA and R-SMA is important ! There is a setting in RASM that allows you to configure the type of antenna that you are connecting the AP to. Either internal or external. The antennas that I have tried, never switch over when you make that change and deploy it. I think at one time I heard someone say something about the antenna required to have a dc coupler. However, I am not sure I know what that means and how to determine if an antenna has that or not. When you say they dont work, do you mean very poor performance? I noticed all antennas that are supported by 1602 are 50 ohms, could it be possible that the antennas you tried were not 50 ohms? No matter what though, even if you used a paperclip, you should get some kind of signal, otherwise Id suspect maybe its a config/defect issue. Thank you, Adrian G.
