The only thing you need is the SMA pigtail (MP372) or R-SMA pigtail (MP422) to
N-connector for lightning protector. Here you can connect any wifi antenna for
2.4 or 5 GHz. Please be sure that you are using the connector at the MP you
want to use by 2.4 or 5 GHz !
Enable the function for external antenna with choosing any antenna with RASM !

The difference between SMA and R-SMA is important !

No they dont work at all. There is a setting in RASM that allows you to
configure the type of antenna that you are connecting the AP to. Either
internal or external. The antennas that I have tried, never switch over when
you make that change and deploy it. I think at one time I heard someone say
something about the antenna required to have a dc coupler. However, I am not
sure I know what that means and how to determine if an antenna has that or not.

Ths very interesting and odd. When you say they dont work, do you mean
very poor performance? I noticed all antennas that are supported by 1602 are 50
ohms, could it be possible that the antennas you tried were not 50 ohms? No
matter what though, even if you used a paperclip, you should get some kind of
signal, otherwise Id suspect maybe its a config/defect issue.

Thank you,

No I have omnis that will work for the 4102s but I need one that I am certain
will work with a 1602. This is the AP that looks like a smoke alarm. I have
found a couple that will not work but none yet that will.

We used just a regular omni from antennex on our 4102 with a lightning
arrestor. I think we used a 19dBi for max output power.

Unless m mistaken, any antenna will work so as long as you use the correct
wavelength.

Can anyone advise me of an omni directional antenna that will work with an
AP-1602?

Enterasys documentation does not show support for an omni attached to an
AP-1602 however, I ct imagine that there isnt one that will work.
Hope someone knows. Thanks for the help.
