Greetings, Locate the MAC address in the results for Netsight Compass. If you hover your mouse or mouse-over the MAC address it will tell you the vendor. The enduser will typically have a consumer MAC address. If you have standardized workstations you'll typically be able to deduce what the MAC address should start with.
When I search for my own username I see the MAC addresses of Cisco routers and an entry with an Intel MAC address. Since I already know that our workstations use Intel NICs and my workstation is not a Cisco router I can identify the correct port. Additionally, if you use the 'port alias' and label all of your uplinks you will have no trouble at all finding the correct result in Compass. The port alias shows up by default in the results.
