I'm installing 42 K10 modular chassis switches in our residence halls. Our infrastructure group is short staffed due to a large campus-wide fiber plant upgrade and I've hired excellent, but inexperienced students to re-cable and document 5000+ ports.

We're looking for a fast/efficient way to validate our port jack database. We populate the alias of each port in the config. We're writing a program that will listen for LLDP and capture the output from a port and validate against our port jack database. I'd like the program to capture the port alias string as well and compare against our records.

I tried set lldp port tx-tlv port-desc and we can parse the ge.x.x from the lldp packet. We've also tried modifying CDP and ciscodp to advertise the alias. Is there a way to blast out the alias from the port?
