Thank you very much Gerald,

This solved the problem I was having. Even though it added a couple of
steps in terms of assuring the laptop and switch had the same address, and
taking the laptop off the network (only one NIC available), this was a
great solution.

For whatever reason, using Hyperterm or Terra Term Pro just wasn't
working, either via the switch boot menu, or using xmodem.

Thanks again!

Ken,

If you are able to access the switch I think it would be easier and faster
to load tftpd32 on your laptop, assign an ip address to the switch, assign
a static address to your laptop in the same range, connect via ethernet
cable to a switch port and use the copy://tftp command on the switch to
transfer the file. Will that work for you?

Hi,

We have one switch that is not connected with the rest of our network that
I want to upgrade the firmware on. Since using TFTP is not an option, I
decided to download the firmware to the switch via the serial port, using
the process outlined in the D-Series CLI Reference.

I can connect just fine to the boot menu, and have changed the baud rate
on the terminal program to 115200 after changing it on the boot menu of
the switch. However, I have not been able to download firmware to the
switch. I think the issue is that whatever terminal program I am using
(Windows Hyperterm or Terra Term Pro) does not have the ability to find
the firmware image on my PC. My guess is that I either don't know where on
the PC I should place this file, or there is some configuration parameter
I need to set in the terminal program. Unfortunately, trying to do a
xmodem file transfer when connected in operational mode does not work.

If someone can provide some assistance with this, it would be much
appreciated. Thanks.
