I really don't understand why Mozilla is so set on changing Firefox in so many ways that are backwards incompatible. Even Microsoft, with its almost total domination of the desktop, preserves a lot of backwards compatibility. It gradually phases out "obsolete" features, rather than precipitously throwing users of older software under the bus.
Mozilla has no such lock on browsers, and I suspect Firefox is going to lose market share by this change. Firefox is about to become very much more like Chrome, but will lack the stability of a mature product.
