I didn't experience any machine crashing myself... Just that the hot sync
would stop without any warnings on the computer.  From what you just said,
though, it looks like something very similar to what I had...problems
relating to the number of calendar events.

I can only suggest doing what I did, which is purging your old events.  I
didn't really want to do this myself, as its nice to have a history record.
