If you've been reading the list for the past couple of weeks or so, you know
that I kept saying I was working on a solution to let you select only
specific contacts to use in a Word mail merge. Well, I've got it done now,
and it's called "eQuery". It consists of a Word add-in file, and an
AppleScript used in Entourage.

Before you rush off to download it, let me be honest about one thing: this
has only been tested on my machine. My address book is rather small, so
performance for me has been quite adequate. What all that means is that, if
you try out eQuery, you're effectively a "beta tester", although I,
personally, do not consider it to be "beta".

Also, in the future (probably after 1 Jan 2001) I will most likely be making
this a Shareware item. The Shareware version will have the VBA code in the
add-in password-protected, and the AppleScript will be supplied in run-only
format. Paying the Shareware fee will get you the password to unlock the VBA
code, and "regular" version of the AppleScript. For now, though, none of
these protections are in place in the version I have posted. So, please do
not pass around the URL, or the files themselves, as this "special edition"
is really intended only for members of this list.

Additionally, if you do use eQuery, please send me a note so I can add your
name and email address to a list of registered users. (The Docs say that you
can only get support if your are a registered user, but that does not apply
to entourage-talk members who download this version. However, I would like
to know how many people are using it, so please do "register".)

You can find eQuery at:

Thanx,
George
