This seems to be the exact same problem that rushed me into panic and sevral
sleepless hours. I downloaded Netscape 6, ran it, found it a bit heavy and
slow and quit it. Then I ran E'rage, had a freeze (I sometimes do if I go
off-line to soon after deleting messages from the server - a problem in its
own right), tried to force quit, which threw the whole computer into a
freeze. I then rebooted with the old paperclip and lo and behold (or should
I say sulfur and satan?) I got a mssage saying: The disk is unreadable. Do
you want to format it? (maybe it said initialize). I was stunned!!!!
Everything gone in a few seconds. I mangaed to reboot from a CD, choose my
other partition and then boot from that. Run TTP 3.0.2 with no luck. Then I
tried TTP data recovery, found my disk, but didn't have any large enough
drive to recover it to, so I had to drive out and borrow a friends iMac
special edition dvd, set up a small network and copy all of it to that for a
while. I then ran DiskWarrior from the healthy partition on the sick one,
and BINGO!!!, it came back up. Mind you it had a few wounds, but all in all
it was intact. It turned out, that what caused the whole thing in the first
place was E'rage's Signature File. It had apparently been corrupted somehow,
even though I don't use signatures on my homecomputer. My data now sits on
my friends computer as backup until he needs the space.
Everything is back in order on my machine, but man, I was devastated.
Reading your message indicates, that there is a major problem between E'rage
and Netscape 6.
Would anybody care to comment on all this?

Hmm.. That is quite strange. Have you tried running a disk repair tool to
verify the integrity of your drive?
