I finally got around to installing the Entourage Conduit for synching with a Palm Organizer. A few notes.... (1) The Value Pack Installer -- when installing the Handheld Synchronization software -- will install fine as long as it finds ONE copy of the Palm software on your Mac. If it finds two or more Palm folders, it will also install fine -- but perhaps NOT in the folder where you're expecting it. Chalk this up to user error, but I'd disabled the Palm stuff 6 months ago and neglected to delete the folder (buried inside another folder). Today, I installed the current Palm software in a folder at the root level of my hard disk. The Value Pack Installer installed the Palm stuff in the OLD folder -- four times, in fact. I spent a good hour mumbling to myself before solving the problem by searching for the Disabled Conduits folder, discovering the OLD folder, deleting it, and reinstalling one last time. An error message when the installer discovered multiple Palm folders would have been nice, but it's certainly not a typical situation that one might look for. Still, Value Pack normally prompts for locations when it finds multiple files/folders of an acceptable type, doesn't it? As I recall, it did that when asking where I wanted some Help files installed. (2) During the first synchronization, it's better to temporarily set sync precedence to either Entourage overwrites or the Palm overwrites. Choosing only Synchronize results in a Palm database with loads of duplicate records. (Well, it did in my case.) It's easy fix it, though, by simply resynching giving Entourage precedence. (3) While it's wonderful that the Entourage conduit supports the Address Book, Notes, Tasks, and ToDos, why doesn't it also support email (as does Outlook 2000 for Windows)? It would have been REALLY nice to have complete support and reading my email on the Palm was a great feature.
