I expect that this will be changed in the OS X upgrade next Fall. In the
meantime, any time you hear a beep, check to see if the icon is flashing.
That’s actually a good question: is there anything like the Notification Manager in OSX? I’d much rather have the present MacOS’s behavior of “hiding the Notification and flashing the icon” instead of Winblows behavior of every single app’s messages going to the front and disrupting your current work.
