I've been running Entourage (with the Service Release 1) for a long time now
(since it was released). Never any problems, until now.

I've been Running Mac OS X (10.1, w/the update). Yesterday I booted back
into 9.2.1 for some testing. I was running Entourage like I normally do. Got
home, woke up my PowerBook (G4), and switched locations to "Home". This,
among other things, runs a script to change the SMTP server in my Entourage
accounts and removes an account from the Send/Receive schedule.

Every thing worked fine. I woke up the PowerBook the next morning, Entourage
tried to connect (I think it actually downloaded some messages), and
complained about "End of File". Subsequent attempts to retrieve messages
kept getting the same error.

So I quit and re-launched. On startup, Entourage complained about "End of
File". I tried a Typical rebuild. Entourage complains that there is not
enough disk space to save the database. The entire folder is 215 MB, and
there are 1.3 GB free on disk.

So I tried an Advanced rebuild. It complained about "End of File", then said
that any errors other than out-of-memory errors probably indicate that the
DB cannot be rebuilt.

I've tried removing files, one at a time, from the Main Identity folder and
re-starting Entourage. I determined that the files it's complaining about
are either the DB or the DB cache (when I remove them, Entourage launches
normally; it does not, however, show my my mail).

If I remove those files and rebuild, Entourage does not find my email.

I have many contacts that I'd like to not lose. Most of them are in my Palm
V, but the Palm V doesn't organize the data quite the same way.

All my email is POP. I have a couple dozen rules, a couple dozen List
handlers, and a couple dozen mailboxes.

If the Microsoft engineer responsible for the Entourage DB is lurking, I'll
take you flying in my airplane if you can help me repair the damage and
recover my contacts, schedule and email. Thanks!
