Hi everyone...

Just upgraded to "Office v. X" today, via the $149 Version Upgrade. Product
Key aside, the installation was a breeze.

The only caveat I have is the new licensing scheme. Office X will not let
you run individual modules on different machines, even if both machines are
owned by the same "End User" (me). While I understand the rationale for the
"license checker," it encumbers many of us who have a small [1 person] home
office.

For instance, I usually have Entourage running on one machine, and then do
web development on another. With the new licensing scheme, I can not use
Entourage X on my "email machine" (an iMac) and Word X on my "production
machine" (a PowerBook G3) simultaneously. Likewise, I can't afford to shell
out another $149 right now, since I'm only working part-time. Are there any
provisions/discounts for small home businesses? I doubt a 2-machine license
exists? Taking one or both systems off the network to simultaneously use
Office X Modules is not an option, since I need internet connectivity to do
my job.

Any suggestions?

In the interim, I'll limp by with using a combo of 2001 and X on the two
machines.

On the bright side, Office v. X and specifically, E'rage X are running quite
well. Beautiful interface, from what I've seen... Worth the long wait.
Kudos to the MBU!

Nicholas
