This has been discussed here many times, Hannu. The quick filter searches
only the displayed columns as they are, not the messages themselves. That's
why it's fast. The displayed columns are not  wide enough to include both
the display name and the email address (you wouldn't have many other columns
if the From column showed both.) So it only shows the display name, unless
there is no display name, in which case it does show the email address. The
Quick Filter searches only the From column, not the messages.

To search for email address, just press option-command-F and flip the popup
from Subject to From, which is extremely simple since From is at the top. If
you happen to have selected one message from the person, guess what? The
email address is already entered in the box for you - you don't even have to
paste it in. The "Folder" popup is already set to search just that folder.
All you have to do is click one button.  It's really very easy to call
Advanced Find this way.
