If you've never synced Palm to 2001 yet (?), you have to give your Entourage
identity the identical name as your Palm knows you by. The Palm original
set-up usually encourages you to put in your full name, so likely it's
"Richard Shane". But the default name of the Entourage original identity is
"Main Identity". If you never create a second identity, I'm not sure (I
forget) whether that even appears in the main window, so you may not even be
aware of it. In any case, you need to change it to "Richard Shane". You can
do that either by going to File/Switch identities/Rename, or, when Entourage
is closed, by going to the Office 2001 Identities folder in MUD folder,
opening it and changing the name of the "Main Identity" folder to "Richard
Shane". That's what the Palm will be looking for.

If you've already done that, I'm not sure what the problem might be. I
suggest that you do your first sync when booted from OS 9, not X. there may
be some initialization procedures that need to access some things in the OS
9 System folder when active (and findable as such) by Palm. If still no
good, do a "slow sync" by holding down shift key on the keyboard as you
sync. If still stuck, go to the Palm HotSync manager, HotSync menu,
Conduits manager, click Entourage conduits, and do a one-way sync. And all
this is assuming you first installed Palm Desktop software in OS 9 as the
Palm instructions explain.

If you're OK in OS 9 but nor OS X, it might be because you haven't started
Classic, which you do from the System Preferences app in the Dock. Start
Classic first, before trying to sync.

That's OK. But Palm can be quite mysterious.

That's good. A bunch of mine don't!
