A script for merging duplicate contacts in Microsoft Entourage. This version of the script is designed for Entourage v.X only. Use on previous versions of Entourage may result in data loss. This version now allows conflicting data in a field to be merged in addition to the previous options of entering new data or selecting one or the other field's data to be kept. In addition, a warning dialog will be posted if the names of the contacts to be merged do not match.
Warnings:
This script overwrites information as it runs, and cannot be canceled! Be certain you have the correct contacts selected before you run it!
Currently does not merge children's furigana names, new years card information, or contact image. This cannot be fixed until Microsoft makes these items scriptable. Please be sure to submit a request to Microsoft Support to fix these problems if you need this capability.
Notes:
The default email and address information may need to be reset after running this script.
Mismatched information will result in a dialog requesting the correct information for most cases. The exceptions are email addresses, children's names, and categories, which will be merged silently.
The script has been posted to Applescript central, and is also available from my public folder. Please let me know if you have trouble with the script.
