There is a bug in the IMAP implementation of Entourage v.X, which has carried over from Entourage 2001.
If you start Entourage and your IMAP "Inbox" mailbox has changed since the last time you used it (like when you get home from work after using it at work during the day), Entourage does not "re-synch" the mailbox. It lists all of the messages that were in the Inbox the last time you used it, plus any new messages. You have to click on another mailbox and then back to the Inbox to get it to show the correct contents.
