Copying contacts to a new identity with categories

Title: Copying contacts to a new identity with categories

I am trying to create a new identity to see if it helps with some crashing
problems I have been having in v.X.  I see you can export contacts to a text
file, but this text file does not store the contact categories.

Is there anyway to export/import this info and keep the category info on the
contact?  I have a lot of them and it would be a huge PITA to have to assign
these categories again.
