Have you checked the Time Zone in the Date and Time control panel?

I've not seen this, so I'm only guessing at things. In Word, try turning off
all the "autocorrect" and "autoformat" features in the Tools menu (and/or in
preferences as well). Also, you should try rebooting with no Extensions
(holding down Shift), and then launching and running your Office apps. They
will have to reinstall their library files and may come up as if for the
first time, but otherwise they should run with no other extensions. Use them
long enough in that state to determine whether or not the slowdown is still
occurring. My suspicion is that it will not, and that your basic problem is
some kind of extension conflict. Worst case, you will <rule out> extension
conflicts this way if the problem persists.
