Just wondering when this will be posted. This is what I use to archive, and the new features look great. www.applescriptcentral.com seems to be down.--
Thanks,
Roger

Subject: Crevier Transfer to Archive script update for OS X
I've updated the script originated by Dan Crevier, "Transfer to Archive", to v7.2. Following changes/additions:
- The Classic version uses a tiny Classic application called "Progress Bar 1.0.1" to display a progress bar during archiving. There is no version of this application for OS X (unless someone out there wants to create it for us; I don't know how). In v7.1 the script still calls “Progress Bar 1.0.1”, and if Classic is not running, it gets started up. In 7.2, I check to see if Classic is running. If it is, things proceed as before and nothing is changed.
- If Classic is not running, the script assumes you do not want it started. Instead, it offers to give brief, periodic progress reports. You can choose how many messages are processed between reports. The report will be either a displayed dialog, showing the number of messages processed so far, which appears and disappears automatically after 2 seconds, so you can still allow it to run unattended if you like, or it will be a simple beep.
- When you first run the script it will prompt you for three things:
- Your date format, either mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy
- The number of messages between progress reports (only if no Classic)
- Your choice of a dialog report, or a beep (only if no Classic).
If you typically archive a large number of messages, I recommend a large number between reports and the simple beep, since the dialogs slow the archiving process down (which was not true of the Progress Bar application, since it was a separate application); however, you may want to know the number of messages processed so you can anticipate how much longer the archive procedure will run.
If you need to edit any of the three parameters, open the script with Script Editor, add and delete a space anywhere, and save the script. This will force the “first run” code to execute the next time you run the script. (I probably will devise a separate preferences script, as Paul Berkowitz has done for several of his scripts, but right now I don’t have time.)
Assuming I can get iDisk to work today, you will find my script on my web site (below) in the “Entourage v. X” directory, called “Transfer to Archive v7.2”. I will also send it to AppleScript Central; it should appear there in a day or two.
