When I retrieve mail, attachments appear on my desktop. Any ideas how to fix this? Where would they normally be stored? It started to occur a few days ago. Not sure what changed. (OS 10.1.4).

Did you by chance install the AppleScript, "Friendlier Claris It"? Or some script. Because Entourage does not make separate files out of attachments. It keeps them inside the main Database file unless something, either a user action or a script that may run via a rule or Mailing List Manager, saves the attachment to disk.
