Title: Service Release 1 & OS X
In order to (try to) forestall any queries, the "what's new" states the following:

Quartz text smoothing

If you are using Mac OS X version 10.1.5 or later, Office can now take advantage of the Quartz drawing engine to smooth the edges of text. Quartz text smoothing makes text on your screen easier to read, but has no effect on printed documents.

Your eyes haven't deceived you – that's Mac OS X v 10.1.5 they're talking about. No, it isn't available yet, but it seems reasonable to assume that MS have built some forward compatibility into the service release, and the functionality will be there when 10.1.5 arrives.
