I went there and ended up sending the follwing to Apple via their Feedback
form. I HOPE I am not missing something here.

So, I found this
Converting your .Mac trial account to an email-only account

IMPORTANT: If you choose to convert your trial account to an email-only
account, all your data files on Apple's servers (except for email messages)
will be removed. Other .Mac services, such as iDisk, HomePage, Backup, and
Virex, are not accessible to email-only accounts.

To convert your trial account to email-only, go to www.mac.com. Click
Account in the .Mac menu bar, then click the Email Account Management
button. Enter the member name and password of the trial account you'd like
to convert, then click Convert.

Print your account information for future reference, then click Continue.

BUT

I can't seem to find the "Email account management" or "Convert" buttons.

I KNOW that Apple is going to provide this service, that is,
converting/keeping the @mac address for e-mail only. MANY of us don't want
or need storage space, virus protection etc. But I DO love that @mac
address. What a way to evangelize! Forcing me to give it up would be
foolish! No, stupid even! EVERYONE knows my @mac address! It MEANS
something! People ask about it!

Come on Apple, do the right thing!

Anyone able to find/see the buttons I can't find?
