If you have a specific folder you want to use, say the "MyStuff" subfolder
of your Documents folder, you can do this:

    set p to "Documents:Mystuff:"

If you use a disk or partition other than your boot disk, you need to
specify that first, e.g., "Disk2:Book Project:Notes:"

On OS X this would look slightly different...

Suggestion, to be sure you typed the path to the folder correctly, try
typing it in an empty Script Editor window, preceded by the word "alias",
like:

    alias "Disk2:Book Project:Notes:"

Then click the run button or press Enter, so the script compiles. If you
don't have the folder name right, it will give an error. If you have it
right, it will compile and be reformatted in color.
