While my Mac is in the shop, I‘ve been using by wife’s. I sync my Palm to Entourage. I moved my Main Identity from me as user on my machine, to me as user on my wife’s. That worked fine; I get my mail the way I always did, etc.
Now I add the Palm conduit for Entourage, which hadn’t been on her computer. And it Sync’ed fine.
But when my wife got back on with she as user, she found that I had messed up her settings, changing her Syncing to Entourage, instead of to the Palm desktop. She is now not happy about letting me use her computer. So still with her as user, she changed her settings back to use the Palm Desktop. Then she was happy again.
But when I, with me as user, Sync’ed again, I sync’ed to the Palm desktop (which I haven’t used for ages) instead of to Entourage. Both Entourage and Palm seem to have separate folders, under documents, under each user. So what happened? Anyone know how to have two users on the same machine sync differently? If I mess up her machine again, I won’t have a computer to use until mine comes back from the shop.
Which conduits HotSync manager and Conduit manager are using is not a per-User preference, nor are they in the separate Palm User folders in ~/Documents/Palm/. It's a computer-wide preference. The conduits are in [OS X Hard Disk]/Application Support/Palm HotSync/Conduits. When you installed the Entourage Conduit, all the PD Conduits (Datebook, Address, Memo, ToDo) were moved by the installer into the Disabled subfolder in that folder. When your wife resets to PD. presumable they get moved out of the Disabled folder and into the Conduits folder - probably the Entourage conduit gets moved into Disabled. (Or at least doesn't get used next time.) So if you and your wife are prepared to move these conduits in and out of the Disabled subfolder manually each time you want to sync, you can both go on using HotSync.
