Title: Re: A script for placing an mailing address into new Entourage X record
If the ones who are failing are trying to get the selection from a complex HTML message it won't work. Try it on a plain text message.

I am at a loss and can’t help you. I have tried everything I can think of and I cannot get the script to fail! It works with the message open; with text selected in the Preview Pane of a browser window or of a custom view. It just works, period.

Sorry, guys. I can’t help any further unless you can somehow tell me how to make this fail, so I can see the error. And it does not fail for me, no matter what I do.

I will be sending, off list, a fresh copy of the script as an attachment. Maybe, somehow, the version I have differs from what you have. Give it a try.

Hi Allen,

I'm very excited about your script, but I'm having the same behavior as Max. I highlight the 3-line Angela info below, go to your script, and a message says, "Please select the contact info and try again."

I'm a novice with these scripts, so: I copied your script, pasted it in a new script (via Script Editor). I saved it as a Compiled Script. I also clicked on the "Check Syntax".

I also tried both just selecting the contact text, as well as Command-C'ing it, too. I opened up a new email, typed in a 3-line classic address, and got the same message.

I'm running OS 10.2.4 on a Entourage 10.1.1(2418) SR1.

I just selected it in my reply to you, ran the script, and it works.

I don’t know what else to tell you.

I have customers who email me their information in a classic format:

Angela Smith
123 Main Street
Memphis, TN 38122

Is there a Entourage X script that can take this info and place it into a new contact record? Or any script that has an easier method for getting  a person's info int a new record other than typing it all in.

I think I used to have one that did this, but I wasn't able to locate it at www.applescriptcentral.com.

I don’t think one existed before, but now one does. This was fun!
