Do you have a schedule that empties your IMAP Deleted Items folder on
startup? Otherwise, I would have expected that you could find them there
after re-connecting. If not, what happens if you change your set-up to "Mark
for Deletion". (Quite frankly, that's all that happens anyway., The "Deleted
Items" IMAP folder is a sort of legal fiction.) In that case, I would expect
you'd see that message with a red line through it, even when Offline, and
thus you could find it again. But maybe not.
