I guess, as an example, you might want "ppp" to be replaced with the � symbol? Or "cpy" to be replaced with � (option-G)? Is that the idea? Take a look at "Tools->autocorrect". You will see there are already a few such shortcuts, such as "(c)" for �, and "(r)" for �. I created a "ppp" one for �; it works perfectly. Just be sure you click the Add button _after_ you type in the shortcut and its replacement character (which you may have to find with the KEYCAPS utility to enter it into the table). And these work find in plain text. The only caveat is that, since these are high ASCII characters (>127 in decimal value), they can't be represented in 7 bits; therefore, Entourage will automatically switch your mail message from plain ASCII text to Unicode.
