Using Ent X
Is there any disadvantage to having Ent set to SMTP require authentication?
If your ISP does NOT require authentication then sometimes you can't send - you'll find that out pretty fast. It's pretty simple - if the ISP requires authentication, turn it on; if the ISP doesn't, leave it off - although it some cases it won't matter if it's on. Your ISP, and their website, will tell you if it's required or not, or you can try it out. (Occasionally, but more likely in a setting where the "ISP" is actually an institution like a university, or a company, you might not need authentication while you're on-site, but would need it when off-site.)
