For the past couple weeks, when I click on the Address Book, there is a 9-10 second pause before it appears. During that pause, the G5's jet engines start cranking up quite hard, as if this getting to this Address book is requiring some heavy CPU power. Once the Address Book has been opened after this first 10-second pause, then accessing it is once again pretty fast. It's only when I quit/shutdown and start up again that it does this.
This pause only shows up in the Main identity, not in any of my other Identities. For example, if I restart Entourage with my "Second Identity", the Address Book Pause is not there.
My Main Identity is 311 Megs. I have 2300 Contacts in the Address Book.
My fix attempts so far:
Standard rebuild/rebuild permissions/restart/fsck-f.
Advanced rebuild/rebuild permissions/restart/fsck-f.
Toss Entourage prefs
I do own Paul's "Export-Import X" Applescripts. From my understanding, here's what I could try next:
1. Make a copy of the Main Identity (call it Second Identity)
2. Delete all Contacts in this Second Identity.
3. Go back to the orig. Main Identity, run the "Contacts-Groups Export from X"
4. Go back to the Second Identity, run the "Contacts Import into X"
5. Restart, start up from the Second Identity, and see if the problem went away.
Am I on track with this? Thanks always for all suggestions.
