This one has me stumped. Hoping someone can help me out. I have an OE User(s) folder from an old Beige G3 that was running OS 8.6 with Outlook Express 4.5. The G3 is no longer in service, but the mail files were all good when they were copied from that machine. The entire OE 4.5 folder was copied over, with the OE User(s) folder inside. In OE 5, the databases were no longer kept in the OE User(s) folder in the OE main folder, but in the MUD identities folder, as you know.
I have tried every combination and location I can think of to get the mail and contacts from the 4.5 folder into Entourage, but it seems Entourage won't see anything earlier than OE 5. I have tried to launch OE 4.5 under classic, but it gives me a shared library error and won't open. So I thought I could launch OE 5 under Classic, import from the 4.5 users folder and then go from 5 to Entourage, but that is not working either. OE 5 won't "see" the 4.5 or OE User(s) folder so it doesn't import anything. Am I overlooking something obvious? Is there any way to get this data into Entourage X, even with some interim steps through other applications? Any help tonight is greatly appreciated.
