First, I would like to start off saying that I think Entourage 2004 is great in one area, in that is was a wonderful upgrade procedure. It somehow managed to copy in all my settings from notes, calendars, email etc. There was literally no problem with this whatsoever, great job! My main concern was what would happen to my old data, which it never really touched, and still lives in my X Identities folder.
That being said, I have some small issues that I hope someone can officially comment on, and one issue that to me and I am sure a semi-large group of people will have a real problem with. First, the major show stopper for me. In Outlook and Entourage, all previous versions, the display font of Monaco 9 was not anti-aliased, in E-rage 2004, it now is. At 9 point, which is what I want to use, it is unreadable. Perhaps someone with better eyes would say they can more easily read it, I would say that even the crispest eyes would still have trouble. I have switched fonts and tried others, they all have this issue. I know I can just bump up the font point size, but that makes the font larger than what I am used to, the old Monaco 9 was just fine by me. What bothers me the most about this, is that no other program has this problem, I just ran the gamut of apps out there in which I use Monaco 9 in, and they all show sharp clean type, none of that smoothing business going on at all ;-) Adium, iChat, Bbedit, Safari View Source, Older Entourage, Text Edit, pretty much anything I tossed a Monaco 9 at, it worked as I expected. Please tell me there is some way to make this behave how it used to, I would be so happy. I am seriously about to revert to E-rage X because of it. I know so many of you will never notice this as you use HTML email, or have never used that font, myself as well as pretty much all the people I communicate with use Monaco 9, we may be a minority, I am not sure. I am pretty sure I call this a bug. Source mode of a email also has this trouble, and that certainly should not be anti-aliased at all. I should also mention, I have tried going into System Pref and telling font smoothing to not be on for fonts 9 point and below, this removed the anti-aliasing, but it made the characters very chunky. Second, Group Viewed folders are not collapsible with the mouse, the left and right arrow keys do work. I have tried restarting the app and that did not help. Third, when you control click on a Group View, one of the options is "add sender to address book". I am afraid to try this, but what would happen? Considering that all the items in that group are selected, would it add each of those addresses? This is confusing to me. My previous post about the audio being too low, is there any way to steal the audio sound set that was the default in E-rage X and use it in E-rage 2004, that audio was at a more proper level in my opinion. -- ------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Haneda Tel: 415.898.2602 http://www.newgeo.com Fax: 313.557.5052 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Novato, CA U.S.A. -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
