Title: Extract part of a field

I have a field that contains names of items that start with either Photo, Fig, Unfig, or Car and want to copy those name beginnings (either 3 or 5 letters) to another field so the data can be concatenated into a calculation field that combines the text Photo, Fig, Unfig, or Car with data from other fields. I’ve tried using the If...Then and Case functions but they don’t seem to do a thing.

Would someone mind pointing me in the right direction. I know FM can do this but I’m the weak link in this issue.
