Kirk claims that the JMF does not catch spams that spoof the "from" header
with the recipient's address.  Is this peculiar to the "exclusive" setting
of JMF?  My JMF is on the "high" setting, and it does catch these spams.

In fact I have been using a strategy similar to what Barry describes above,
but I use it to bypass the JMF, classifying messages that I send between my
accounts as NOT spam.
