I hate it when people answer their own questions, but here I go. It was both. Earthstink blamed it on E'rage having a problem dealing with too many accounts. But they could not explain why I could sent and receive when it was scheduled or on start up of E'rage, but not manually. Anywho, the solution was to change the receiving mail setting in the accounts. Several years ago I had switched all accounts to receive from mail.earthlink.net, after a week of communicating with one of their East Coast engineers. My solution to avoid "too many simultaneous connections" was to switch the 6th account to pop.earthlink.net, and leave the other 5 as mail. I won't bore you with the detail on how long or how we tripped over the solution. I think it is at their end, cause their webmail would not work either, at first.
